Transportation needs to be priority for the Houston government

HALIFAX – Today, Official Opposition Leader Claudia Chender made the following statement:

“The Houston government kept this information from the public for nearly a year, and now that their transportation report is finally public, the Premier’s response fails to meet the need. The JRTA report confirms what we already know: we need to support moving more people onto, off of and around the peninsula faster and more affordably, including building out bus rapid transit as quickly as possible.

Nova Scotia is an amazing place to live, and if we want to stay that way, we have to make it easier for people to get around. Halifax ranks among the worst Canadian cities for rush hour congestion and travel times. The Houston government needs to stop fighting with municipalities, keeping information from the public, and start supporting real solutions to make it easier to get around.”
