Stephen Lewis remembered for public service, commitment to human rights: Chender

HALIFAX – Today, Nova Scotia NDP Leader Claudia Chender made the following statement on the passing of former ambassador and former Ontario NDP Leader Stephen Lewis:

“New Democrats across the country are marking the passing of Stephen Lewis with profound sadness today.

A long-time social activist, he gave his working life to public service as Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations, co-founder of the Stephen Lewis Foundation, and Leader of the Ontario NDP.

Lewis spent his life fighting for social justice and human rights around the world and will be remembered as a respected humanitarian who never stopped working for a more equitable world. ”
