Provincial budget an opportunity to set progressive priorities

HALIFAX – NDP Finance spokesperson Lisa Lachance made the following statement about the public budget submission process:

“While voting is an essential way to participate in how our province is governed, it's important that people find ways to participate in government decision making in the years between elections as well.

We know that many people have priorities that might not be the same as the Houston government’s, and it’s important that a diversity of voices and ideas are heard and included in the provincial budget.

For the NSNDP, we’ll be looking for investment in health care and mental health care in the spring budget, as well as investments in non-profit and public housing options, and support for addressing climate change.”
