Paid sick days required as Nova Scotia sees increase in COVID-19 cases

HALIFAX -- NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement today:

“Yesterday the Premier and Dr. Strang reminded people that if they’re feeling sick they should stay home. But too many people can’t afford to stay home. Without paid sick days people have to go to work or lose a day’s pay. Doctors in Ontario and across the country have been calling for paid sick days as a way to help flatten the curve. With the return of community spread in Nova Scotia, the need for paid sick days is more clear than ever. The Nova Scotia Liberal government could lead by example and implement paid sick days now.”

The NDP has tabled legislation to create 10 paid sick days for all workers in the Labour Standards Code.
