NSNDP Leadership 2022 rules approved, vote will be held June 20-25

HALIFAX – The NSNDP has approved the rules that will govern the Party’s 2022 leadership contest. Party members will be able to begin voting on June 20, and the results will be announced on June 25.

“This year, New Democrats will come together to choose the next Leader of our Party. It is an exciting opportunity to build upon the NSNDP’s work towards something better in Nova Scotia,” said NSNDP President Carol Ferguson. “Through this time of renewal, we will continue to champion the issues that matter to people and grow our support throughout the province.”

Leadership hopefuls will have until May 21 to register as a candidate. Anyone looking to vote in the leadership has until May 30 to sign up as a member of the NSNDP.

“Over the next few months, we will have an energetic conversation about the future of our Party and province,” said Ferguson. “Through engaging in this democratic process, members will shape the direction of our Party for years to come.”

NSNDP Leader Gary Burrill will remain in his role until the results of the June vote are announced and will continue as MLA for Halifax Chebucto.
