NSNDP Leader Claudia Chender’s statement on MLA post

HALIFAX – Today, NDP Leader Claudia Chender made the following statement:

“Paul Wozney remains a valued member of the Nova Scotia NDP Caucus, and will continue in his roles as the Critic for Labour, Education, and Ethics and Accountability. He works hard for the people of Sackville-Cobequid, and is committed to fighting for working people both inside and outside of the Legislature.
The Nova Scotia NDP unequivocally denounces violence or the suggestion of violence in civic life. MLA Wozney has removed the post and apologized for his careless words. We have spoken about his serious error in judgment, and he acknowledges the harm that he has caused. He understands that there are consequences to his words and he has been removed as the NDP Whip.
Respectful, peaceful protest and civic engagement are essential parts of a healthy democracy and strengthen our province. Nova Scotians have proven that we can stay true to these values and speak up about our differences and frustrations while taking care of each other and holding governments accountable.”
