Nova Scotians losing trust in Houston government spending choices: NDP
HALIFAX – Today, Official Opposition Leader Claudia Chender made the following statement in response to the Auditor General’s report on health care spending:
“Nova Scotians are losing trust because this government refuses to tell them how their money is being spent. Today, the Auditor General confirmed that there are serious issues that need to be addressed.
The AG found that one vendor had no contract, another had a contract signed after work started, and other contracts were missing important information. This does not inspire confidence in the way this government spends taxpayers’ dollars.
This is a government that likes to do business in the dark, and Nova Scotians are very concerned. We have proposals on the table for a Legislative Budget Office and to strengthen the lobbyist registry. We need to immediately strengthen protections for how this government spends Nova Scotia's money.”
