Nova Scotians deserve answers from Premier: NDP

HALIFAX – The following is a statement from Official Opposition Leader Claudia Chender:

“As more advocates and individuals who support survivors of gender-based violence come forward demanding answers about Minister Macleod’s misogynistic language, they deserve more than silence from the Premier.

Today I’ve written to Premier Houston because women across the province should not be expected to quietly accept misogyny from men in positions of power. They want to know whether the Premier still has confidence in Minister MacLeod’s judgement, if the Minister will remain in cabinet, and what concrete steps are being taken to address the troubling pattern from his government of failing to take seriously issues that disproportionately affect women.”
