NDP will deliver something better for Nova Scotians
HALIFAX -- While Iain Rankin plans to cut $209 million from the services people depend on, NDP Leader Gary Burrill is promising to invest in people’s lives in Nova Scotia.
“This election, the NDP will stand up for the real needs of real people who have been left behind through eight years of Liberal government. Our campaign is about people. People who will be forced out of their homes because of huge rent increases when the Liberals end temporary rent control. Families who struggle to find affordable child care. Seniors who are forced to live in hospitals because there are no long-term care beds. It’s about the nearly 70,000 people still without a family doctor or those waiting in emergency departments to get the care they need,” said NDP Leader Gary Burrill.
“This election is about these people, and many others whose real lives have been made worse by the choices of the past eight years. People work hard and deserve better. This election is about setting priorities and making the right choices for the people of Nova Scotia.”
Iain Rankin has not been straightforward with Nova Scotians. He has said he will cut $209 million but he won’t say what is getting cut.
The Tim Houston Conservatives also want to redirect $200 million away from priorities like education and health care and give it to large, profitable businesses.
The NDP is focused on real people and the solutions they need.
“When you elect more NDP MLAs, what will happen next is that real people's real lives will be front and centre in every decision over the next four years,” said Burrill. “It's time for something better.”
Burrill will campaign today in Halifax Chebucto, Halifax Citadel-Sable Island, Fairview-Clayton Park, Halifax Needham, Dartmouth North, Dartmouth South, and Eastern Passage.
