Increasing tuition rates make university, college unattainable for many

Halifax-- NDP Labour and Advanced Education spokesperson, Tammy Martin made the following statement in response to new data from Statistics Canada on increasing tuition fees:

“Nova Scotian students, and the students who make their homes in Nova Scotia are being forced to spend more than they can manage.
Tuition fees in Nova Scotia are $1900 above the Canadian average. Today, Canadian students pay on average $6,463 per year, less than what Nova Scotian students paid five years ago.
These increases show that the McNeil Liberals aren’t interested in making university accessible and attainable.
The NDP is committed to making tuition free at the NSCC and to work with universities to reduce fees for students.”
