Houston Conservatives can’t ignore housing crisis

HALIFAX -- NDP Housing spokesperson Suzy Hansen made the following statement on the state of housing in the province:

“As the nights are getting colder, urgent action is needed to make sure everyone has a home this fall and winter.

The new Conservative government hasn’t taken any real action to address the housing crisis. If the Conservatives’ planned cancellation of rent control goes forward, more people will be stuck with huge rent increases they can’t afford and nowhere affordable to live.

Mr. Houston should immediately make rent control permanent and invest immediately in the emergency housing supports that are needed now for people facing homelessness.”

Hansen, and NDP Leader Gary Burrill will speak at today’s Rent Control Rally outside of Province House.
