Hansen: Bill 75 decision a victory for teachers

HALIFAX – NDP Education spokesperson Suzy Hansen made the following statement in response to today’s Supreme Court decision on Bill 75:

“Today’s decision is a huge win for teachers and everyone in our school communities. We have always said the decision to legislate a contract through Bill 75 was wrong. Today Justice Keith has said the same.

Now, we need to see action from the Houston government to provide some sort of remedy and support for the teachers of Nova Scotia. At the time Bill 75 was passed Mr. Houston said it didn’t make sense and did nothing to resolve the problems in the education system.

Many of those problems still exist and we need the Houston government to provide the support and resources needed for teachers, students, and staff in our schools.”
