Government still not telling Nova Scotians the whole doctor waitlist story: NDP

HALIFAX – Official Opposition Leader Claudia Chender made the following statement today, regarding the July update of the Need a Family Practice Registry:

“The Houston government continues to hide the full picture about who is going without access to primary care in Nova Scotia. We hear from Nova Scotians every day who need to be attached to primary care and want to know when they can expect to get a doctor.

Thousands of people add their names to the list each month, but the government keeps doing a one-sided public relations exercise where they only disclose the number of people coming off the list. Continuing to withhold information that doesn’t reflect well on the Houston government will only slow progress on getting people the primary care they need. That’s why we won’t stop pushing for transparency.

Nova Scotians without a family doctor continue to wait and continue to be kept in the dark by the Houston government.”
