Former CBRM Mayor John Morgan running to be NDP candidate in Glace Bay-Dominion

New Waterford -- Former CBRM Mayor John Morgan has announced today that he will be seeking the nomination for the Nova Scotia NDP in Glace Bay-Dominion for the next general election.

“Cape Breton needs strong representatives who will stand up for our communities, not just sit by as our hospitals are closed, our children are living in poverty, and our services decline,” said Morgan. “I believe Gary Burrill and the NDP are the only team that will fight to get fairness for Cape Breton, fix our health care system, and tackle child poverty.”

Morgan is from Glace Bay and served as Mayor of CBRM from 2000 to 2012.

“We’re excited to have a person of John Morgan’s calibre adding his voice to the NDP’s message,” said NDP Leader Gary Burrill. “John has been a consistently outspoken advocate on the issue of fairness and financial viability for Cape Breton. We need to ensure that Nova Scotia provides equitable support to all our communities -- including both of our province’s two cities."

The NDP was the first party to nominate a candidate for the 41st General Election, officially nominating Joanne Hussey last night in Fairview-Clayton Park.
