Decision on Bill 148 a victory for workers: NSNDP

HALIFAX – Today, NSNDP Labour Critic Paul Wozney made the following statement in response to Bill 148 being ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia:

“Nova Scotians work hard and play by the rules, and they deserve a government that does the same. Stephen McNeil abused the power of the Legislature to pass Bill 148, and Tim Houston was wrong to break his promise to repeal it.

Workers should not have had to fight this long to have their rights respected, and today’s decision is a major victory. Now, Tim Houston must do the right thing, and respect the Court’s decision and not appeal it.”
