Coombes: What will Conservatives do about the closure of Sydney walk-in clinic?

New Waterford - Kendra Coombes, NDP MLA for Cape Breton Centre-Whitney Pier made the following statement about the pending closure of the Sydney Family Practice walk-in clinic:

“People across Cape Breton are disappointed today to learn that one of the few places that provides access to care for people without a family doctor will close at the end of the month.
The Conservative government has had months to find a solution to keep this clinic open and make sure people could continue to access primary care. This clinic was in danger of closing back in the Spring, so the issue has been well known.
Premier Tim Houston keeps saying that the health care crisis will get worse before it gets any better. I would challenge the Premier to be upfront with Cape Bretoners. If he knows it is going to get worse, he needs to show the modelling behind this statement so that everyone in our community can understand what we are up against. How much worse will it get, and for how long?
Cape Bretoners deserve honesty and transparency from our government.”
