Coombes: Living Wage report highlights people's struggle to make ends meet

HALIFAX - Kendra Coombes, NDP Labour and Advanced Education Spokesperson, made the following statement about the release of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives NS Living Wage report:

“People across our province are struggling to pay their bills, sometimes working two or three jobs or contracts at a time. This research shows that the living wage in communities around Nova Scotia ranges from $16.80 to $21.80 and highlights why people making less than that are having such a hard time.
Wages have not kept up with the cost of living and people are falling behind. Our province cannot thrive if so many people are struggling to get by.
The first step in getting there is to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour to make it a little easier for people to make ends meet.”
