Coombes: Liberals must prevent closure of Sydney walk-in clinic

SYDNEY - Kendra Coombes, MLA for Cape Breton Centre, made the following statement about the pending closure of the Sydney Family Practice walk-in clinic:

“People in Cape Breton cannot lose any more health care services. There are already so few options for people without a family doctor to access primary health care. If this clinic closes, many people will be forced to go to the emergency room at the Regional, which will result in even longer waits and even more overcrowded conditions.
So my message to the Liberal government and Cape Breton Ministers Momberquette and MacLellan is clear - not one more closure. Do what needs to be done to save these primary health care services. Anything less is just unacceptable.”

Even before the potential closure of the walk-in clinic, 2157 people were added to the waitlist for a family doctor in Cape Breton County last month.
