Coombes: Government Must Bargain Fairly with Health Care Administrative Professionals

HALIFAX – NDP Labour Relations Spokesperson Kendra Coombes had this statement on negotiations between the Houston government and Nova Scotian administrative professionals who work in the health care system:

“Across the province, the health care system relies on the tireless work of administrative professionals. While the Premier says he will do everything he can to “fix health care”, his government isn’t bargaining respectfully with a group of workers who are integral to the system. Costs are rising for everyone. People working in our province, especially in our health system, should be able to afford to pay their housing costs and put food on the table. The NDP fought the Liberal laws that take away health care workers’ right to strike and we urge the Conservatives to repeal these laws. Since they refuse to do this, the least they can do is bargain fairly with these important employees. We stand with Nova Scotia health administration professionals who are fighting for a fair deal from their employer.”
