Burrill: Rankin shouldn’t sell Owls Head

HALIFAX - NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement regarding the judicial review about the proposed sale of Owls Head:

“When it comes to the protection of Owls Head, the Premier has an opportunity to demonstrate that he is different from his predecessor, and I hope he takes this opportunity to do so.
The economic uncertainty created by COVID-19 also means that by selling Owls Head, Nova Scotia could be missing out on important economic opportunities that stem from land and habitat protection including jobs in conservation, eco-tourism, park development and more.
Nova Scotia needs to be protecting more land for future generations, not less.”

Last week, the NDP introduced legislation that would protect Owls Head from sale.
