Burrill: The fight for paid sick days continues

HALIFAX -- NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement ahead of Labour Day, Monday:

“This week, students will be headed back to school and more and more workers are heading back to their offices. And yet, with the Delta variant on the rise, many workers are still without the basic protection of paid sick time. While more people are vaccinated, the need for paid sick days has never been more clear. People must be able to stay home when they’re sick. Too many people have to choose between going to work when they aren’t feeling well, or not being able to cover the rent and the grocery bill this month. As we get set to mark Labour Day and all of the advances that have been won, we must also keep up the fight for paid sick days, a $15 minimum wage, and permanent rent control in Nova Scotia.”
