Burrill: All workers deserve sick days, better protections at work

HALIFAX -- NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement today, the National Day of Mourning:

“As we mark this 37th annual Day of Mourning, we mark also the truth the pandemic has made clear -- that frontline workers work in a world that is often one of sacrifice, risk, and danger.

We acknowledge, with respect and gratitude, the burdens that have been, and are being, carried in this COVID time by all essential workers.

And we re-commit ourselves to build a society where no one is forced by financial pressure to undertake work that is not tenable or safe, and where every working person has access to paid sick days.”
