Action on gender-based violence still needed
HALIFAX-- NDP Status of Women spokesperson Suzy Hansen made the following statement on the National Day for Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women:
“As we mark another National Day for Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we are reminded of the ongoing issue of gender-based violence that affects too many Nova Scotians.
Many Nova Scotia organizations continue the important work on the frontlines to prevent and respond to gender-based violence in communities across our province. And, Nova Scotia New Democrats continue to call on the government to support these essential services through sustainable long-term funding.
Violence against women and gender diverse people will continue in our province until gender inequality is addressed.”
