Nova Scotia Health leadership change must deliver better results for Nova Scotians: NSNDP

HALIFAX –Today, NSNDP Leader Claudia Chender made the following statement on the appointment of the new permanent President and CEO of Nova Scotia Health:

“Congratulations to Dr. Nicole Boutilier on her appointment as President and CEO of Nova Scotia Health. The Houston government has waited years to name a permanent CEO. Now that Nova Scotians finally have leadership in place, we expect that we will again have a functioning board in short order, as well as the support to make the much-needed improvements for Nova Scotians to access care.

Today’s announcement raises questions about why the Houston government is creating a new agency, Accelerate Nova Scotia, when the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub is already doing that work. At a time when Nova Scotians across the province are waiting too long for emergency care, access and specialists, every dollar and every decision should be focused on improving the health care people rely on every day — not on more bureaucracy.”
