Zann: Time to listen to young people on climate change
Halifax — NDP Environment and Climate Change spokesperson Lenore Zann made the following statement about today’s climate strike by students:
“Students are walking out of class today to make a point about government inaction on climate change. Inspired by a 16-year old Swedish high school student who sparked this movement against global warming, they see their future in jeopardy, and I don’t blame them.
It’s clear that we need to make bold, dramatic changes if we want to leave a hopeful legacy to today’s young people. We have an important opportunity to work together to reduce our carbon emissions and transition to a green economy.
I applaud the students who are striking across the globe today. May their leadership inspire governments in every jurisdiction to take action now, and do the right thing for our planet.”
