Statement by Tammy Martin on postal worker strike

HALIFAX - Tammy Martin, NDP Labour spokesperson made the following statement about the rotating postal strikes:

“Postal workers are fighting to ensure Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers, who are predominantly women, are getting equal pay for equal work. It's deeply disappointing that the federal Liberals have allowed Canada Post, which is a profitable crown corporation, to stand in the way of women’s equality.

Postal workers have long stood up for maintaining good union jobs in our communities and improving working conditions for women. It was postal workers who first won maternity benefits for workers. I am proud to support the postal workers in their efforts to obtain a fair contract.”
