Statement from NSNDP Leader Gary Burrill on the National Day of Mourning

HALIFAX -- NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement to mark the National Day of Mourning today:

“On April 28, we pause to think about and mourn those workers who were killed on the job or injured as a result of workplace accidents.

Today, in ceremonies across the province, people in Nova Scotia mark the 35th Canadian observance of the Day of Mourning. With each observance, we remember that government must deploy every energy and resource to ensure that safety standards are upheld.”

The NDP tabled legislation this spring to expand WCB coverage for workplace-related cancers for firefighters.
