P3 Highway report shows private/public is the wrong way to go

HALIFAX -- NDP TIR spokesperson Susan Leblanc made the following statement in response to a report released today on P3 funding for highways:

“The information in today’s report shows that P3s are much more expensive for Nova Scotia. By choosing not to use a traditional build the province is also missing out on creating well paid local jobs.
We’ve seen reports on this from other provinces when it comes to health care facilities, our own province has seen the costly mistakes of building schools through P3 agreements and now we see more evidence that building our roads as P3 projects is exponentially more expensive and less beneficial to Nova Scotians.
Today’s report on using P3s for highways should make the McNeil government think twice about their decision to continue to use this failed model to build new highways or hospitals.”
