Field Organizer
The Field Organizer will be responsible for Electoral District Association development, candidate recruitment, identifying and training activists, fundraising support and overall election preparedness in Electoral Districts in Nova Scotia.
Start Date: Continuous
End Date: July 15, 2025* (or at the conclusion of the 2025 election)
Hours: 20 to 35 hours a week
Wage: $23.00 to $26.00 per hour (based on experience) + 3 weeks of vacation + health benefits
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Duties and Tasks (included but not limited to):
- Assist Nova Scotia New Democrat Electoral District Associations in pre-election organizing including the development of pre-election and election campaign plans
- Assist Electoral District Associations in meeting their statutory obligations
- Work with Electoral District Associations on outreach initiatives including canvasses, fundraising activities and special events.
- Plan, prepare and conduct workshops, seminars and other training sessions for Party members and activists.
- Organize and support special events as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
- Some knowledge of Nova Scotia NDP’s history and policy, and Nova Scotia politics in general
- Prior NDP campaign or canvassing experience is an asset
Abilities:
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications
- Adaptable to changing work priorities and tasks
- Willing to work irregular hours (particularly evenings and weekends)
- Working outside in seasonal weather conditions
- Comfortable talking to voters on their doorsteps or over the phone
- Can give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Able to remain calm and polite whenever representing the Nova Scotia NDP
- Works wells with others
