NDP pressure leads to first public NSHA Board meeting today

Halifax -- NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement about today’s first public NSHA Board meeting:

“For four years the Nova Scotia Health Authority has held all of its board meetings behind closed doors. During those four years the people of Nova Scotia have dealt year after year with the health care crisis affecting their access to everything from family doctors to emergency rooms.
The NDP Caucus introduced the Nova Scotia Health Authority Accountability Act in 2018, calling for an end to secret closed-door meetings by the NSHA. We are glad to see today’s meeting in Liverpool taking place in public.
Having public meetings means at the very least that there will be some transparency about decision-making and a venue for frontline workers and people from all over Nova Scotia to come forward with their solutions to the health care crisis in our province.”
