Martin: Latest incident at Donkin shows need for action to protect workers

NEW WATERFORD - Tammy Martin, MLA for Cape Breton Centre and NDP Labour spokesperson made the following statement about the fire at the Donkin mine:

“Once again we find ourselves saying thankfully no one was hurt at the Donkin Mine. The number of incidents at the mine is alarming. Everytime I hear about a new incident, I am reminded of the whistle that used to blow in many of the communities across Cape Breton when there was a safety issue. It’s clear that the workers in the mine need a union to protect their health and safety.”
