Digital Communications Officer - Halifax, NS
The Nova Scotia NDP Caucus seeks an organized and experienced individual to join the staff team. This position is a permanent, unionized, full-time position with a variable schedule.

Job Responsibilities: In support of the strategic priorities of the NDP Caucus, the Digital Communications Officer will design and execute digital media strategy to raise awareness and drive engagement with the public about the work of the NDP Caucus. The Officer will support and strengthen our voice across social media platforms, with a focus on content creation, audience development and public engagement.
Job Duties and Details:
- Write and create engaging content for a variety of social media and digital platforms
- In conjunction with other relevant staff, create social media copy and content for the Nova Scotia NDP Caucus.
- Conceptualize and design graphics using various software such as Canva, Photoshop etc.
- Record and Create video clips and content of the Leader and caucus for use on digital platforms
- Understand and follow the social media and political landscape of Nova Scotia and progressive politics
- Develop calendar, schedule and execute innovative social media campaigns
- Generate, optimize and report on social media analytics and digital campaigns
- Contribute to and assist with the execution of social media strategies for social media platforms; working closely with the team to establish target audiences and objectives
- Monitor social media accounts for correspondence, issues or concerns
- Manage the Leader’s account and profile on various platforms
- Other duties as assigned, including a variation of tasks during a legislative sitting
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in social media content creation at a level appropriate for a major political party with demonstrated relevant experience in progressive causes
- Experience with basic photography, videography and video editing
- Ability with design software- Canva, Adobe Suite etc.
- Demonstrated experience managing a content calendar
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of social media trends and environment, through personal or professional social media experience
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging content which fosters growth and engagement on social media platforms
- Exemplary written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to work within brand and voice guidelines; specifically with respect to the Leader of Nova Scotia’s NDP
- Interest in, experience with and knowledge of, Nova Scotia political affairs and the New Democratic Party policies and structure
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Ability to work in a high-paced, high-pressure work environment in which attention to detail are paramount
- Relevant post-secondary education and training
- Willingness to work irregular hours
Compensation:
The NDP Caucus offers a competitive salary with cost-shared health, dental, and pension benefits.Salary band is 2,506.45 bi-weekly.
