Coombes: Workers’ privacy must be protected

Halifax -- NDP Labour spokesperson Kendra Coombes made the following statement in response to news of another government privacy breach:

“It is incredibly concerning to see the personal information of workers, who have needed support from the government, released publicly in this privacy breach.

Like so many who are currently reaching out to the government for support during COVID-19, people who go through the Workers’ Compensation Board are asked to provide very personal information and expect that their privacy will be protected in return.

The silence from the Liberal government in reaction to this breach is equally upsetting. Minister Kousoulis needs to look into how this happened and make it clear to all Nova Scotians that this won’t happen again.”
