Coombes ready to continue work in Cape Breton Centre

New Waterford -- NDP candidate Kendra Coombes is ready to continue the NDP’s work and represent the people of Cape Breton Centre in the Legislature. The Premier called the byelection today with Election Day set for March 10th.

“This byelection is going to be about sending someone to Halifax who will fight for Cape Breton,” said Coombes. “The Liberal government has been ignoring Cape Breton for years. I won’t let them ignore us any more.”

The NDP is the only Party committed to keeping the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital open and fighting to keep emergency health care where people need it. The NDP will continue to fight for better health care and fairness for Cape Breton.

“Stephen McNeil and his Liberal government have turned a blind eye to the struggles of Cape Bretoners. Instead of addressing the health care crisis, the Liberals have closed the New Waterford hospital,” said NDP Leader Gary Burrill. “Kendra will be a courageous fighter for the communities she serves and will continue the strong legacy of the NDP MLAs in Cape Breton Centre.”

The NDP has represented Cape Breton Centre for 20 of the last 22 years.
