Coombes: Cost of poverty report shows Liberal government failures

HALIFAX - Kendra Coombes, NDP Community Services spokesperson, made the following statement in response to the release of a new report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives on the cost of poverty in Nova Scotia:

“Poverty costs our province $2 billion a year, and Nova Scotia is the only province where child poverty has gotten worse, not better.
The Liberals have made many promises to address poverty, but their lack of action means that a child who was born into poverty in 2013 when they took office, is now in school and is likely still living in poverty.
It’s unacceptable and people deserve something better.”
