Burrill: Long-term care is still in crisis

Halifax— Nova Scotia NDP leader Gary Burrill made the following statement:

“The education of Continuing Care Assistants is an area worthy of investment and the government is right to offer financial support to students. However, the Premier and Health Minister continue to ignore problems with staffing ratios that were clearly identified through the Expert Panel on Long-Term Care.

Long-term care is still in crisis. Until the government addresses understaffing in our province’s nursing homes, facilities will be compromised in their ability to provide the quality care seniors deserve and need.”
