AG raises serious questions on how Liberals are managing QEII redevelopment

Halifax-- NDP Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal spokesperson Susan Leblanc made the following statement in response to the Auditor General’s review of the QEII redevelopment project:

“The lack of serious and appropriate oversight for a project of this scale is extremely concerning. The Liberal government’s inability to ensure even their own consultant’s critical recommendations were implemented raises significant questions around the risk of fraud and how this two billion dollar project is being managed.

Time and time again we have seen a lack of transparency around decisions made about siting of public buildings and decisions about whether to use P3 or traditional builds. Today’s report shows us that the Liberal government is not only ignoring the public and outside experts, but it is also refusing to listen to its own experts.

We continue to call for the McNeil Liberals to reconsider using a P3 deal for this once-in-a-generation project. Considering the issues the AG has pointed to today, that call is even more urgent.”
