Chender: Teachers rightly concerned that Glaze Report changes will not help our students

Halifax – NDP Education and Early Childhood Development Spokesperson Claudia Chender made the following statement after meeting with the president of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union this morning:

“Today I had the opportunity to sit down with Liette Doucette, president of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union. She confirmed how upset the teachers across the province are about the refusal of the Liberal government to work with them to meet the needs of children.

I am concerned about the many unanswered questions as to how these changes will affect the education system and the experience of students in the classroom.

In my conversations with teachers over the past few weeks, it is clear they are frustrated that none of the major issues in our classrooms will be addressed by the McNeil government’s plans to implement recommendations from the Glaze report.”

The NDP launched a petition today calling for a pause to these changes: nsndp.ca/have-your-say-schools
